Lady Gaga tweeted strong words directed at President Trump and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan Monday in the wake of Sunday’s shooting in Las Vegas.
At least 58 have died and an additional 515 were injured at the Route 91 Harvest festival in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.
Reeling from the news, Lady Gaga shared a series of tweets calling the action “terrorism plain and simple,” and asking Democrats and Republicans alike to “unite now” for gun control.
Replying to Speaker Ryan’s statement on the events, in which he said, “We stand united in our shock, our condolences, & our prayers,” the Million Reasons singer acknowledged that “Prayers are important…” But continued, mentioning Speaker Ryan and President Trump by name, saying “… blood is on the hands of those who have power to legislate. #GunControl act quickly.
Gaga has been joined by fellow musicians and celebrities calling for a review of gun control legislation following the violence.
“Mass shootings cause gun stocks to rise. They’re making money off tragedy. Are you ok with your reps being bought with that money? Shameful,” Jessica Chastain tweeted, telling followers to vote representatives who legislate against limits on assault weapons out of office.
