Michelle Obama and Valerie Jarrett party in Las Vegas

Michelle Obama capped off a successful two-day summit in Chicago last week by hopping on a jet and flying off to Sin City.

The former first lady headed to Las Vegas alongside her husband Barack’s former advisor and current Lyft board director Valerie Jarrett, who was getting a early start on her upcoming birthday.

Jarrett will turn 61 next Wednesday, and to celebrate she enjoyed a jam-packed weekend surrounded by friends and family that kicked off on Friday with dinner in a private room at TAO Asian Bistro in The Venetian.

A source tells DailyMail.com that the group dined on braised short ribs, satay of Chilean sea bass, lobster wontons and potstickers before enjoying an ‘extravagant birthday dessert presentation.’

That was followed by some dancing at TAO Nightclub until 2 in the morning.

And that was just night one.

On their second night in Vegas, the group headed over to catch Elton John perform at The Colosseum at Ceaser’s Palace, with Jarrett posting a photo before the show.

The group also enjoyed another gourmet meal, with Jarrett sharing a photo of her birthday dessert on Instagram.

The trip worked out perfectly for Michelle, who had to be in San Francisco on Tuesday to deliver an address at Dreamforce.
