President Trump took to Twitter on Monday to wish Americans a “Happy Labor Day.”
Trump touted record-low unemployment numbers and his efforts to fix “some of the worst trade deals ever made.”
“Happy Labor Day! Our country is doing better than ever before with unemployment setting record lows. The U.S. has tremendous upside potential as we go about fixing some of the worst Trade Deals ever made by any country in the world. Big progress being made!” Trump tweeted.
A short time later, he added: “The Worker in America is doing better than ever before. Celebrate Labor Day!”
On “Fox & Friends,” Dr. Sebastian Gorka, who served as a deputy assistant to the president, said Trump isn’t getting enough credit for his economic policies, particularly in striking the United States-Mexico Trade Agreement and fighting for fair trade.
He said Trump wants to make good trade deals that protect the American worker while promoting economic growth.
Gorka noted Canada has a nearly 300-percent tariff on U.S. dairy imports, while the European Union taxes U.S. car imports at a rate approximately four times higher than the U.S. tax on European-made cars.
“The president has come along and he’s just said, ‘This is wrong, we need to fix it,'” Gorka said. “It’s about time, and he’s absolutely right.”
