‘Trump needs to resign’: Al Gore advises the president to step down during discussion on climate change

Former vice president Al Gore has one message for Donald Trump: resign.

The Democratic politician and environmentalist made the comments during an interview with Good Day LA about climate change and his upcoming event for the Climate Reality Project.

When host Elex Michaelson asked Gore if there was anything he wanted to say to the president, Gore responded: ‘Oh, my only message would be: resign’.

‘I don’t mean to be flippant about this,’ he added.

Gore, the chairman and founder of the Climate Reality Project, went on to say that he doesn’t think Trump has been taking advice about climate change and the importance of having clean air and water.

‘I think everyone knows to discount what this current Administration is doing and saying. They’ve made the EPA the CPA! The Coal Production Agency! Instead of protecting the environment,’ he told the station.

‘This is a global emergency. It truly is! Look at the temperatures going to record levels, look at the fires!’ Gore said. ‘Don’t take it from me. You don’t even have to take it from me or even have to take it from the scientists, who are virtually unanimous, take it from Mother Nature! Every night on the TV is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation.’

California has been battling Trump over climate change after he pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement last year.

Recently, California officials passed a bill that will require the state to run 100 per cent on renewable energy sources by 20145. The bill still needs to be approved in the state Senate and it needs to be signed by governor Jerry Brown.

The state’s effort to move toward cleaner energy sources has drawn criticism, especially from Republicans who say it’s not feasible and will cause an increase in energy prices.
